Somewhere in America - advertisement
When I think of an advertisement that sticks out to me, I immediately think of the animal cruelty commercials. Every time I see one, I instantly get emotional. The purpose of these commercials is to really dig inside of the viewer to give them feelings of sadness, guilt, and even anger. These ads trigger the limbic system in the brain. To be specific, the amygdala is the part of the nervous system in which causes us to feel emotion, fear, anger, etc. The producers are targeting our limbic system in order to get the viewers to have these feelings. The over all goal is to reach into the " emotional brain" of the viewers in hopes of influencing them to make a decision in reaction to the advertisement. Because these commercials pull on my heart strings, it it is extremely hard not to call the number on the screen and send money or help save a precious animal's life.
